Hi, I’m Jessica.
I’ve been professionally photographing life’s most cherished moments since 2009, though my love for photography began long before that—back when holding a camera and printing photos felt like a kind of magic, still does. I’m endlessly drawn to a soft, dreamy, filmy aesthetic, and my work centers around love, emotion, and movement.
I’m trained in studio lighting, newborn safety and posing, and have taken countless posing and editing courses throughout my career. I believe in always learning, growing, and thoughtfully examining my work—this has been the foundation of my evolution as a photographer, artist, and human. I’m a perfectionist in the best way, especially when it comes to color. I’m deeply obsessed with tones, balance, and harmony, editing every session custom to what best complements you, your family, and the overall vibe. I’m a bit of a color theory nerd, and I proudly own that.
My style shifts gently with the seasons—especially here in Kentucky, where the light, greens, and natural elements change so beautifully throughout the year. I strive for images that feel true to life in every way… just a little dreamier. I love playing with color and creating vibrant, emotive imagery that still feels timeless.
Another huge love of mine is my studio space. I adore creating sets—often with florals and layered textures—while keeping things intentionally minimal so that you remain the heart of every image.
Above all, I’m a mama. My absolute favorite subjects are my two boys, Max and Alexander, along with our seven fur babies. They are my “why” in every way. The reason I left social work and stepped into photography full time. My WHY in every sense of the word. <3
When friends and family describe me, they often say spiritual, quirky, loving, warm, funny, and unique—unique being my favorite, because it’s the highest compliment in my world.
Everything I create is rooted in authenticity, and I bring that same intention into every session—photographing people in a way that feels true to who they are and how they want to be seen.
WHY YOU CAN TRUST ME WITH
YOUR STORY
Every part of my work feels like a blessing, because I get to do what I love—while honoring what matters most. As a mother myself, I’m constantly aware of how fleeting these seasons are, and how important it is to have someone outside of your own family step in to preserve them.
It’s the small, seemingly ordinary moments that become extraordinary with time—the scrunched nose when you kiss his cheek, the Eskimo kisses he’ll only ask for a little while longer, the way she sticks her tongue out when she smiles. The way your child buries their face into your neck when meeting someone new. The quiet determination in your senior’s eyes. These are the moments that tell the truest story of who they are right now.
As parents, we feel these moments deeply—but we can’t fully capture them ourselves. And when we do, they’re rarely preserved as heirloom-quality images meant to last for generations. This is where my purpose lives. I believe my artistic gifts exist to help families hold onto these fleeting details in a way that can be cherished not just for a lifetime, but far beyond it.
During sessions, I don’t just pose—I create space. Space for play, movement, connection, and real emotion to unfold naturally. I pay close attention to the moments that might otherwise go unnoticed—the quiet in-between glances and gestures that reveal big love. I intentionally overshoot to ensure these moments are never missed, allowing your gallery to feel full, emotive, and alive.
What I can promise you is this: you will love not only the images, but the experience with Shutter & Bloom. I hold myself to a high standard and am always refining my craft and my business—for my clients, and for the artist I continue to become.
My love for photography runs deep. I grew up learning to photograph with our family camera, then spending hours poring over printed family photographs—asking questions, discovering the stories held within each image. That reverence for the printed photograph—the way it carries memory and meaning—has never left me.
Because of that, I also guide my clients through creating tangible keepsakes—prints, albums, and wall art—so your images don’t live only on a screen, but become part of your home and your family’s story.
This work is deeply personal to me. It’s about honoring love, connection, and the beauty of everyday moments—captured authentically, artistically, and with intention.
